How does Scott account for the failure of the expedition?

Scott defiantly finds it difficult realize that they have lost the race to the South Pole. Instead he blames misfortune in all risks which had been undertaken. Next he gives three reasons to the trips failure. First their expedition was delayed because of the loss of a pony. Next the snow and weather held them up for long. But still it’s important for him to tell that the failure didn’t occur because of a faulty organization.
